The opportunity
We are seeking a Technical Game Designer who will contribute to the design, development and implementation of features for current and future Unity products focused on gaming vertical. The Technical Game Designer will be reporting to the Creative Director, handcrafting exciting gameplay features, tools and game modes alongside a multidisciplinary team located all across the globe.
The Technical Game Designer must possess the ability to collaborate with a wide-range of development team members outside of direct discipline such as Directors, Artists, Animators, and Programmers to define and implement the desired tools, processes and game play efficiently and at a high level of quality in a fast-paced environment.
What you'll be doing
- Maintain the game design vision during all phases of the product development cycle from concept through implementation using a combination of written documents, visual designs, and verbal communication
- Work closely with art and engineering team to turn ideas into reality from strategic planning, feature definition, development of the commercial case, through to the market entry and positioning stages
- Key stakeholder in feature planning and prioritization, design reviews, user feedback and stakeholder communication
- Create exciting and robust gameplay features and tools
What we're looking for
- Excellent at rapidly prototyping ideas and capable of quickly turning a design specification into a playable feature
- Hands-on experience with game design and familiarity with the process, tooling, and documentation involved
- Experience in game production as a game designer in a shipped title
- Understanding of story and character design, level design, AI design, player control, user interface, pacing, etc.
- Good error checking and debug skills to help identify problems and bugs and ensure the assigned tasks are always working. Ability to troubleshoot relentlessly, chasing down issues on behalf of the team
You might also have
- Game design experience in different stages of game production (prototype, pre-production, production and live-ops) and across different game genres
- Hands-on experience with Unity
