Content Marketing Specialist

Jackbox Games is looking for a Content Marketing Specialist to join our team in Chicago! (Though currently, we are all working from home.)

Who are We?

Jackbox is a small game studio (~45 people) best known for our Jackbox Party Pack franchise: a set of five social party games released every fall. Since 2014, our games--like Quiplash, Drawful, and Trivia Murder Party-- have been featured on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, by Polygon, and in living rooms and finished basements across the world.

In 2020, we had over 200 million users. And we have hard evidence that one of those users was Academy Award-winner Charlize Theron.

What’s the Job?

The Jackbox Games Marketing Team is bursting with opportunities and challenges surrounding our recent growth. While currently a team of two, we hope to double in size this year and fill some voids in key areas that will allow us to meet demand (and maintain it) and to support our growing communities.

We are looking for an experienced Content Marketing Specialist who can establish an overarching editorial calendar for our website, copy for our digital ads campaigns, our eCommerce shop, and our many social media channels and communities. This person will work closely with our Community Engagement & Events Manager and our new Customer Service Manager to ensure that we are speaking effectively to new and existing customers. We need an editorial calendar that properly addresses our various customer personas that exist on a spectrum of brand loyalty and familiarity. In this role you’ll also balance content between creating engagement opportunities, communicating sales and purchasing FAQs, and supporting launches of new products (including localized content to an international audience). We’re looking for a strong writer with an organized mind behind the content driving our overall marketing strategy.

Responsibilities

• Craft and schedule all social media posts and conduct regular reporting on social media engagement and growth.
• Work with the Marketing Director to craft copy for all digital ad campaigns and help execute A/B tests.
• Act as the resident social media subject matter expert on our team and keep a finger on the pulse of existing and emerging social media trends (including exploration of new platforms).
• Write and develop all email newsletter blasts and craft email drip campaigns to better speak to various consumer journeys.
• Act as the gatekeeper for all new copy added to our website or Shopify product pages to ensure that it is on brand and approachable.
• Oversee our blog post and SEO strategy and occasionally write blog posts.
• Work with the Marketing Director and Community Engagement Manager to identify high-performing written and visual content across all platforms and ad campaigns.
• Work with the Assistant editor to proofread and edit all final draft content.
• Occasionally write press releases or media advisories with our PR agencies.
• Write content for all international campaigns and act as the liaison between Jackbox Games and our localization vendors.

Ideal Candidates Will Have...

• At least 3 years of relevant experience. New grads need not apply.
• Strong writing with a grasp of our humorous and irreverent tone.
• Have an existing familiarity with our games and be able to communicate what we do and why our games are awesome.
• Proficiency in key social media platforms and be able to demonstrate success with growing followings.
• A working knowledge of posting and editing WordPress websites.
• An eye for detail and the ability to spot grammar and punctuation errors with ease.
• A team player mindset. Our marketing department intersects with almost every other department in our company and you will need to be able to work effectively both on your own and as part of a larger group.
• A roll-up-your-sleeves mentality. We have a very entrepreneurial, get-it-done culture that takes pride in our strong work ethic and low tolerance for micromanaging or posturing.

But It's Great If You Also…

• Have some experience with video editing and some Photoshop basics.
• Have developed content for successful digital advertising campaigns and know your way around Facebook Business Manager or Google Ads.
• Experience marketing direct-to-consumer products

• Do I need to live in or relocate to the Chicago area for this position? Short answer: Yes. Long answer: We are all working remotely due to COVID-19 at the moment, so there’s not a rush, but the expectation is that eventually you will work out of our Chicago office.
