Consumer Insights Manager
Hutch is looking for a Consumer Insights Manager to join our growing Brand Marketing team. In this role, the successful candidate will take the lead in implementing a market research and marketability testing function at Hutch, with the aim of helping steer our development and marketing efforts.
In this role, you’ll be working closely with Game Directors, Product Managers, Artists, Analysts and Brand Managers to deliver succinct, clear and actionable insights. You’ll do this by establishing a successful marketability testing program using fake app stores to help test game concepts, art styles and game themes ahead of our validation process. You’ll also work with external agencies to help plug the gaps in our market knowledge and use this to help inform design, positioning and wider marketing decisions.
You’ll conduct research with our existing player bases to help us understand our games and future designs. Finally, you’ll act as a central coordinator for this activity, pulling together stakeholders from various disciplines to ensure we maintain momentum.
At Hutch we believe in supporting autonomous teams to do their best work, and in this role we’re looking for somebody with the proactivity and experience to define Consumer Insights as a function, and establish it as a true value driver for the business.
Responsibilities
- Leverage the platforms, tools and player communities at our disposal to carry out research rapidly to help inform new product, marketing and live game feature decisions. Including but not limited to:
- Design and run ‘fake’ appstore tests.
- Conduct research working with our large, existing player communities.
- Organise and run play-tests, internally and externally (e.g. usertesting.com).
- Monitor market trends and share observations with the wider team regularly.
- Work with external agencies to plug gaps in our market knowledge.
- Coordinate the individuals and teams around the business (inc. external specialists) that are required to deliver a successful test.
- Make clear observations and recommendations based on research findings.
- Construct and analyse consumer surveys with an appreciation for game insights vs marketing insights.
- Organise and track all active testing projects.
- Provide stakeholders with visibility on project progress.
- Develop the process over time by improving existing tools and adding new tools.
- Maintain good knowledge of the mobile Racing genre as well as the wider mobile gaming and Racing markets.
- Communicate noteworthy findings, process changes and market insights to the wider team at Hutch.
Requirements
- Experience in conducting marketability tests using dedicated software such as Storemaven.
- Experience in working with agencies to deliver quantitative and qualitative research that leads to actionable insights.
- Good knowledge of brand positioning, audience segmentation, and how this fits into wider product strategy.
- Experience working in a Brand/Product Marketing environment.
- Numerate and statistically literate with high attention to detail.
- Strong communicator with excellent project management skills.
- Experience in creating, running and analysing the results from surveys using dedicated platforms like Survey Monkey, Mailchimp, etc.
- A curiosity and passion for the mobile games market and its consumers.
