Job Description
As a Concept Artist at Ubisoft Leamington studio you will develop artistic elements that will constitute the artistic representation of ideas, provide inspiration and become references for the artistic direction of the project.
What will you do?
- Produce key character concept art that will inspire the Art team and drive discussion.
- Troubleshoot with the wider Art team providing precise technical concepts, including turn arounds and orthographic drawings.
- Produce 2D Art, branding and illustration to be used as in-game assets.
- Assist the Art Director in establishing a consistent project style and be a reference for all elements of art production (Environment, Character, UI etc.);
- Collaborate effectively with key stakeholders to confirm task direction and consistency, incorporating regular feedback from the Art Director and Art Leads;
- Understand best practices, production pipelines and workflows;
- Plan, estimate and prioritise time frames for the completion of day to day tasks and track progress using the designated tracking tools;
- Effectively communicate basic visual intentions to the wider art team;
- Support the Lead Artist and/or Art Director in any related ad hoc tasks.
What will you bring?
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills;
- Strong drawing and painting skills with great stylistic flexibility;
- Anatomical and architectural knowledge;
- Excellent understanding of art fundamentals including value, perspective and colour theory;
- Strong compositional skills, with an eye for detail and visual story telling;
- Good observation and research skills;
- Knowledge of the video game industry and awareness of typical video game development processes;
- Previous experience in concept art or other relevant experience;
- A background in graphic-design or branding would be desirable for this role.
