Concept Artist - Merchandise

In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends, and over 100 million people now play the game every month. Riot Games Merchandise wants every League IP fan - past, present, and future - to feel proud to express their love of our IP through physical merchandise. We aim to build products that legitimize that expression. From cute collectible figurines that brighten up any desk, to an exclusive hoodie that is only available to players who completed the missions in game, we look to create meaningful product experiences that fits into our players’ lifestyle and passions.

As a Concept Artist on the Merch team, you will work in partnership with the Merch Art Director and other 2D/3D artists to help shape the art style for our various figure lines. Your craft expertise will bring our iconic characters to players IRL.

Responsibilities:

• Concept art for figure design - translating ingame human and creature character art into a style appropriate for our various figure lines
• Creative character posing - sketch and iterate options for dynamic and interesting poses to support 3D artists
• Paintover corrections - visually representing the team’s change requests to figures submitted by external vendors
• Outsource artist management - review and feedback
• Templating and documentation - developing templates for use by all merch team 2D artists to maintain product consistency

Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years professional experience working as a concept artist for figures or toys.
• Work in a broad range of art styles, using predetermined guidelines and templates.
• Understand anatomy, color, and physical product constraints.
• Ability to discuss process, provide feedback in a positive manner, discuss design reasoning, and collaborate to align team.
• Expert in 3ds Max, Maya, or Zbrush.

Desired Qualifications:

• 3D modeling or graphic design experience is a plus.
• Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
