Concept Artist - Marketing | Artiste de Concept - Marketing

Behaviour Interactive is looking for a particularly gifted and versatile Concept Artist to grow our Creative Marketing team. The Concept Artist will work in a cooperative and interdisciplinary team environment to conceptualize all sorts of creative projects in the large world of video games.
The ideal candidate has a great talent and a significant experience in conceptualization, design and illustration of a wide range of characters, silhouettes, movement, composition, environments, objects and architectures. An academic understanding and mastering of the body shapes, morphology, motion, form, structure, color, lighting and a particularly creative imagination are essential to the position.

- Create storyboards, with digital and traditional tools. Collaborate with other team members to brainstorm, imagine and sketch scenes, sequences of images, and illustrations to be later transformed by peers into 3D static images or 3D animation movies.
- Create illustrations, compositions, with digital and traditional tools, including characters, objects, architecture, etc. These illustrations will inspire 3D artists or capture artists in there subsequent work;
- Create sketches, studies and designs of characters, clothing, accessories, environments and special decor elements;
- Communicate with production artists to clarify concepts, visual elements and in-game characteristics;
- Participate in meetings to share ideas and knowledge;
- Responsible for designing and presenting the initial visual style of animated scenes or static images, while respecting the artistic vision given by the Artistic Directors;
- Create initial concepts from basic sketches, and then add the details required to reach final and specific concepts.

- Bachelor's degree in graphic arts, drawing, animation art, visual arts or equivalent related fields;
- At least 3 years experience as a concept artist / Illustrator;
- Knowledge of 3D software, an asset (Blender, Maya, 3dsMax). Understanding the limitations / constrains the 3D and capture artist teams are facing, and being able to adapt the creating concepts accordingly. Ability to fast learn technical constraints of platforms, engines and software;
- Important skills in conceptual art with a good understanding of perspective, dramatic compositions, color theory, light and atmosphere and how to use them correctly in the communication of the concept;
- Knowledge of the storyboarding language, animation language, and visual tricks that help communicate efficiently the sequence of the action;
- Be able to quickly express the vision in terms of linear art and color images reflecting the atmosphere, movement, the composition and interpretation;
- In-depth knowledge of drawing software solutions; for example, Photoshop, Illustrator, Paintover or others;
- Solid base for traditional arts, including figurative drawing, anatomy in all its diversities, human faces, facial expression, silhouettes. Interest for sketching non-human creatures like monsters, robots, extra-terrestrial life forms, and all fun stuff video games are made of;
- Be able to work in a variety of styles and specific styles, also sometimes initiated by another artist or artistic director. Ability to understand the needs and stay within the style of a given project;
- Autonomous, good communicator and an excellent team player;
- Have a good understanding of the games characters, worlds and their lore. Ideally fond of video games, Sci-fi and horror movies;
- The ideal candidate has previous and relevant experience in the field of video games, film, or in an agency, and understand the workings of creation of digital art;
- Ability to adapt easily to change;
- Good oral and written communication;
- Excellent sense of organization, attention to details;
- Outstanding portfolio that demonstrates a strong artistic skill.
