Community Manager (Contract)

The Niantic Developer Community team is seeking an experienced community manager who is passionate about building and managing global online communities of individual developers that leverage our platform . You will be responsible for building and implementing 8th Wall’s online community strategy that empowers individual developers to thrive with our webAR platform. You will work cross functionally with the Product , Engineering, Marketing, and Developer Relations.
The Niantic Developer Community Team’s goal is to grow our developer ecosystem by attracting, upskilling, and supporting developers so they can successfully build and monetize on the 8th Wall platform.
This is a contractor position and the work should be performed based on service agreement and SOW. Niantic will not offer Contractor direct employment contract, salary, benefits, equities, or any compensation associated with employment.
Responsibilities
- Build out and manage a global online community where all developers from a variety of backgrounds can thrive.
- Be a link between the company and the community and discover ways to serve both.
- Maintain the digital platforms that host our developer communities.
- Actively moderate online developer community.
- Develop weekly community health reports to brief internal teams on updates, product feedback and ecosystem health.
- Collaborate with the Developer Support and Developer Relations teams to support the community.
- Take a data driven approach to problem solving.
- Maintain an inclusive culture.
- Provide a regular cadence of updates to the community.
- Host quarterly community challenges, working with product, legal, support and marketing to ensure developer success and engagement. Engage participants in challenge related events, workshops, and communication threads.
- Pilot and manage the digital ambassador program.
Requirements
- Self starter, flexible thinker, with emotional intelligence for developers and understands their needs.
- Good at fostering and building relationships both in person and online at scale.
- Have successfully managed a developer community in the past and has empathy for developers, regardless of skill level.
- Project management skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Online and offline event management experience.
- Experienced developer forum moderator.
- Familiarity with at least one visual programming platform.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft and Google productivity tools (e.g spreadsheet and presentation software).
- Team oriented person that is motivated by helping others as much as they are motivated about excelling in their individual role.
- Great at seeing the big picture and understanding how the smaller things fit together to achieve this big picture.
- Degree from an accredited tertiary institution.
The salary range for this role is $48.00 - $57.00 per hour.
