Communications Lead

About the Company
One More Game is an early-stage, venture-funded game company that supports flexible working schedules and fully-remote work. We believe creating outstanding games has more to do with building an extraordinary team than any other factor.
Our development philosophy is focused on sustaining developer happiness, maximizing iteration speed, and learning from player feedback. We know from experience it is sensible to ship games without crunch-time and have done so successfully.
Our team is composed of veteran developers with key contributions to the development of Warcraft, Diablo, StarCraft, Guild Wars and Magic: Arena. We seek team members who are enjoyable to work with and who will enhance our efforts, as we believe creating great games is a group endeavor made better with trust between teammates.
We aim to build games that will be cultural touchstones, the measure by which other games are judged. We seek remarkable people to join our team, and offer a comprehensive compensation package.
About the Role
We are looking for a world class Communications Lead to help build and sustain our reputation as one of the most transparent, authentic and reliably player-focused companies in the video game industry. From helping individual contributors at One More Game interact with players to defining how we communicate with partners and the media, you will be at the intersection of strategy and tactics.
Our team members have had key roles developing and publishing many well-loved, global gaming franchises, including Warcraft, Diablo, StarCraft, Guild Wars, Aion, Tera, Magic: Arena, and Pokémon, and we aspire to build original new games with that level of global and cultural resonance, and will look to your guidance and insights to help us achieve our goals.
As our Communications Lead, you’ll oversee our player communications, press relations and influencer relations. You’ll define strategy, lead the integration of important influencer-marketing campaigns, conduct training for new hires, work with media outlets to facilitate coverage, and write everything from press releases to player-facing web content.
We aim to self-publish in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Oceania, and partner with publishers elsewhere, and seek a candidate with expertise in European languages, culture, and vendor-management, in addition to English. We'll partner in other regions of the world, and will look to you for your expertise in working with international media to ensure our message is on-target for everyone in our global community.
Our games are online experiences for mobile, PC, and console, so we’re seeking a candidate with previous experience in Communications across multiple platforms, and with experience in Press Relations and Player Relations roles.
To be effective in this role you must be able to
- Wear the Player Relations, Press Relations and Influencer Relations expert hat
- Lead implementation of strategic programs that leverage influencers
- Pitch stories and article ideas to press and tell our story directly through our own channels (OMG blog, product website and social platforms)
- Book media for trade shows as necessary
- Advise and coach OMG teammates on external communications, including blog posts, community engagement, speaking opportunities, and press interviews
- Draft and edit press releases, promotional text, game descriptions and strategic plans
- Work closely with the marketing and community teams to advise and develop authentic communication that resonates with our community and the mass market
Compensation and Benefits
- Equitable salaries
- Stock options in a venture-funded, early-stage company
- Fully-remote work with flexible work hours
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits (100% paid for employees / 50% paid for dependents)
- Two months parental leave after one year of employment (one month the first year)
- Long-term Disability Insurance -- for life
- Self-managed personal time off (guideline: 4 weeks annually) plus 12 holidays
- $6,000 annual stipend for continuing education, coaching and trade-show attendance
- $300 annual stipend for game purchases
Whether you have game industry experience or not, we encourage you to let us know you are interested in a role at
One More Game.
We are a fully-remote company with no physical office and provide flexible days/hours. We have a preference for candidates within several hours of the Pacific Time zone to make meetings more convenient, as many of us are near Seattle.
We invite you to apply, and ask that you include your resume, cover letter and any other information you think represents your abilities. Any information you send will be used only for the purposes of evaluating your candidacy.
Please include the words "I want to make one more game" with your cover letter.
