Senior Combat Designer

Striking Distance Studios continues to grow. We are looking for talented developers with experience working on large-scale, live service games to join us in our San Ramon studio.

What we need:

Striking Distance Studios is looking for an experienced Senior Combat Designer to help create a next generation AAA experience in the PUBG Universe. A type of specialized systems designer, you’ve had a hand in bringing great combat experiences to life, and know what it takes to balance in a live environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, document, and tune combat mechanics, controls, and systems.
• Work with Leads, Animators, Designers and Engineers to create compelling combat mechanics.
• Collaborate with team to ensure highest level of quality and to guarantee visibility and alignment.
• Fully document designs for Engineers, Prop Artists, and Animators.
• Creatively solve system conflicts and troubleshoot technical limitations
• Balance and tune combat to ensure the highest level of player engagement.
• Communicate with Production to ensure all deadlines are met.
• Use research and player feedback to guide gameplay balance and tuning in an ongoing capacity to ensure the highest levels of player engagement.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5+ years AAA design.
• A strong understanding of design principles and combat design.
• Experience working in modern game engines (UE4 preferred, not required)
• A passion and hunger to make the best games.
