Responsibilities: As a Cloud Infrastructure Architect you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the infrastructure and tooling within Skillz:
- Lead and coordinate technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction across multiple teams
- Analyze, design and develop a roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state
- Design, deploy, and manage Skillz’s infrastructure in public clouds (AWS or GCP)
- Design, architect, and implement next generation automation solutions for CI/CD
- Provide leadership, technology guidance and mentorship
- Work closely with software engineering teams to constantly improve availability of services
- Manage seamless upgrades of infrastructure and services through automation
- Leverage container platforms such as Kubernetes for large scale deployment of microservices
- Identify, gather, analyze and automating responses to key performance metrics, logs, and alerts
- Ensure infrastructure security compliance
- Conduct periodic on call duties as needed on a regular scheme basis
Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 6+ years of industry experience designing and implementing successful large scale infrastructure on public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Fluent in one or more of: Python, Go, Java, or Ruby
- Hands-on experience in containerization and cloud services frameworks in both Kubernetes and AWS
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in operations, include running and maintaining software, operating a large public cloud deployment, creating and triaging alerts around the health and security
- Strong track record of implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments
- Designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
- Experience driving discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation
- Experience with logging, monitoring, and alerting tools such as New Relic,DataDog, and PagerDuty
