Cinematic Technical Animator

We are seeking a Cinematic Technical Animator to join our in-house cinematics team on our Total War franchise at our studio based in Horsham, West Sussex. The ideal candidate would have a keen interest in animation and is ready to learn and rise to exciting new challenges in helping to push the visual the excellence of our cinematics. This is an entry to mid-level opportunity.
Working directly with the Technical Lead, you will continue to learn and develop your already proven understanding of the latest rigging and skinning techniques to achieve a high standard of technical excellence within an established Maya to game engine pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
As Cinematic Technical Animator, you will work closely with the Lead Cinematic Technical Artist, learning and applying the latest character performance techniques.
On a day to day basis, you will be:
- Setting up full body and facial animation systems, ready for the animation team to breathe life into
- Rigging and skinning a variety of characters for all Total War franchises within Maya and inhouse cinematic pipelines and tools
- Problem solving day to day technical issues that arise during the animation process
You will bring your excellent communication skills to be able to work across the team and collaborate with developers across the project.Knowledge, Skill and Experience
Essential
- A demonstrable understanding of Rigging and Skinning.
- A solid understanding of anatomy
- Good knowledge of Maya
- A demonstrable understanding of Python
- Good problem solving and communication skills
- Proactive and passionate about the work with a can-do attitude
Desirable
- Experience with C++ and/or Maya API is a plus
- Understanding of 3D math (linear algebra, vector and matrix math) is a plus
- Good understanding of MotionBuilder
- Use of Game Engines i.e. Proprietary would be an advantage
- Motion Capture experience is a plus
- Film/VFX or game production experience
- Love of games and film
