Cinematic Lead Animator [Studio]

Job Description
At Massive, we are currently looking for a passionate new Cinematic Lead Animator. You will drive the development and set the bar of quality of animations in Movies and Narrative for different Ubisoft games, not just the ones developed at Massive. You will contribute to crafting life-like animations and gripping narratives, by bringing your own thoughts to the table and inspiring your team to push the limits. You will influence the creation of next gen movies for AAA projects. As our new Cinematic Lead Animator you are the expert and drive the team in both conceptual and production phases to deliver great quality across the board.

Responsibilities
- Leading the development of high-quality cinematic animation, cameras and movies
- Being able to craft quality in both real-time and pre-rendered movies
- Creating and maintaining the quality of movies sequences in Ubisoft proprietary engines as well as off-shelf engines
- Organizing, travelling to and directing motion capture sessions
- Creating and maintaining a prospering art culture within the Cinematic Animation Team
- Ensuring a productive internal workflow and beneficial relationships with external partners
- Managing the happiness and performance of the people in your team with reoccurring feedback and reviews, to enable the team members success and career progression
- With the help of production coordinators, organizing work and backlog using project management/ planning tools i.e. Shotgun and Jira.
- Managing the Cinematic Animation Team’s tasks through synchronization meetings to communicate vision and needs with other teams
- Closely collaborating with producers, leads, directors and other teams to push project quality
- Balancing quality and efficiency to reach the best results within given time frames
Qualifications
You as a person
You have experience leading a team, and are looking for a new opportunity! The role will allow you to join and lead a team at an international studio, working on many AAA titles. As a lead, you are well organized, like to be on top of things and find the success of your team very important. You have the ability to anticipate and find solutions to problems that may occur within the team, which you find inspiring. By interest in the process, you strive to have effective workflows for production. As an animator, you have a passion for the industry, and are driven by the chance to bring things to a higher level. You get your priorities from your producer but you are highly self-motivated and both comfortable and used to driving the work forward by yourself. Besides the above we’re looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:
- 7+ years of professional experience creating cinematic animations for next gen AAA games, ideally with AAA titles shipped
- At least 1 years' experience of leading a team
- Experience with co-development is an absolute necessity
- Ability to review and feedback on teams work in a clear and constructive manner
- Expert knowledge of Maya and Motion builder
- Working knowledge of Cinematic storytelling techniques and classic cinematography
- Comfortable using real-time engines like Unreal and Unity
- Comfortable leading a distributed team over different time-zones
