Cinematic Animator

This is a fantastic opportunity to be a key member of the studio’s established cinematic department. Creative Assembly is looking to add an experienced cinematic animator to its growing team where you will be working on producing visually stunning, emotive cinematic performances for our Total War products.
This position reports to the Principle Lead Animator and requires a Cinematic Animator who demonstrates a clear understanding of creating character driven performance abilities, a keen eye for detail, along with possessing a versatile animation skill set, complemented by good technical and communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities
To produce stunning, emotive cinematic performances for a wide-ranging set of characters for in-game cinematics and promotional marketing trailers, for all Total War products. Taking ownership of the tasks assigned, ensuring animations delivered are within the set task times, and are of the highest quality. Matching the already established quality bar. Utilising your already established advanced animations skills within Maya, to construct performances using a combination of motion capture data, and hand key frame animation. Be open and friendly and proactive in problem-solving, taking and implementing any animation notes given, in a positive can-do attitude, along with being a team player who can communicate well.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience
Essential
- Experience in delivering cinematic content for in-game and marketing material within a AAA game development studio.
- Demonstrate an advanced understanding of character animation, incorporating complex body mechanics for both biped and quadruped
- Be able to construct and execute hand key frame animations for a wide-ranging set of characters that include both human and creature –
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of handling and editing motion capture, combining hand key skills to deliver the final required character performances.
- Hand key frame experience in delivering character facial animation performances, in both lip syncing and emotions.
- Be proficient in Maya
- Have experience with game engines and cinematic pipelines within game development.
- Have a good understanding of camera narrative and the film making process.
