Chief of Staff to EVP & GM, Platform & Tech

B&OP is responsible for several platform products that are shared among all of Blizzard’s games.
The Chief of Staff to the Executive Vice President & General Manager, Platform and Tech serves as an adviser and program manager to lead and execute initiatives and activities supporting the GM’s strategy and vision. The successful candidate brings a passion for entertainment industry and a strong, informed view on further subscription, 3P and transaction business opportunities for our platform. This position maximizes the effectiveness of the GM so that he can focus his time and energy on the highest value activities. The Chief of Staff interfaces closely with executives, senior leaders, and stakeholders throughout the organization and builds / drives forward Blizzard’s platform and technology strategy.
Responsibilities
Strategic Initiatives:
- Successfully leads and executes key initiatives end-to-end including discovery, delivery, and adoption
- Drives all the efforts related to developing and executing against scaling the platform and technology strategy
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with executives, senior leaders, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives and deliverables
- Establishes an annual strategic planning process to identify, evaluate, and prioritize strategic initiatives, ensuring they are tightly linked to Blizzard’s overall platform and technology strategy and drive business value
- Creates and manages the processes and tools by which the health and performance of the portfolio of strategic initiatives are tracked, reported, and communicated to the broader organization
Maximizing Effectiveness:
- Serves as a thought partner to provide an objective, independent perspective on ideas and issues
- Establishes efficient and powerful status reporting and score-carding to report on the health and performance of key initiatives and activities
- Drafts and distributes presentations, documents, and communications; facilitates syncs and manages stakeholders for all key initiatives
- Partners with Human Resources to address staffing needs planning
- Helps identify items that can be delegated to others to optimize the GMs time allocation to high-value activities
- Attends meetings, provides direction, and addresses inquiries or issues on behalf of the GM as his proxy
- Identifies, develops, and implements continuous process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the GM and the organization
- Manages the responsibilities and day-to-day activities of the GM’s Executive Assistant
Financial and Budgeting Processes
- Partners with Finance to establish and improve financial processes, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis
- Develops metrics and reporting to communicate financial performance, providing senior leaders with transparency and decision support to dynamically adjust to changing demands
Senior Leadership Decision-making and Meetings
- Plans and develops agendas for key meetings
- Documents and communicates decisions and action items from meetings
- Ensures follow-up and closure of action items
- Shares information and learnings across teams
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in program or project management
- Proven experience leading large-scale, cross-organizational, complex enterprise programs or projects utilizing internal and vendor resources
- Proven successes working with executive clients and deftly guiding complex decisions
- Demonstrated ability to function well in a matrixed organization and thrive in a dynamic industry, business and technical environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders throughout the organization
- Ability to lead and influence without explicit authority
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills
- Comfortable presenting and communicating to large groups and across all levels of the organization in an effective, situationally appropriate, clear, and high-quality manner
- Ability to work independently and deliver results with little supervision
- Detail- and results-oriented; driven and self-motivated with strong initiative
- Excellent organization and time management skills; ability to prioritize tasks across multiple projects
- Problem solver, analytical and organized thinker
- Experience in training, mentoring, and managing others
- Ability to travel to support the GM, as needed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline or prior work experience in one or more of these disciplines

- Prior experience reporting directly to a C-level executive
- Big 4 management consulting experience
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration or a related advanced degree
