What We’re Looking For:
The Chief Accounting Officer will build and lead a team to support the accounting businesses. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CAO will work closely and productively with executive management to influence, refine and implement strategy. The ideal candidate will have worked in a successful high growth company and can bring those experiences to our company as we continue to define the future of esports and mobile gaming. The role reports to the CFO of Skillz.
What You Will Do :
- Serve as a strategic financial business partner to the CEO, CFO and Executive Management team
- Manage monthly / quarterly / annual financial close; including leading all project based accounting and ad hoc accounting duties that arise.
- Assist with company finances including tax, revenue, cash flow, expenses, reports and ongoing financial reporting.
- Oversee SEC reporting
- Participate in monthly financial reviews with the executive team
- Develop and maintain financial models, reporting systems, and databases to facilitate the ability to evaluate and understand all aspects of the company financials
- Develop and maintain all internal controls and financial policies and procedures
- Coordinate and perform financial updates with the preparation of monthly financial statements and other reports used to summarize and interpret the current financial position of the company
- Work to research and implement new accounting systems and processes as needed
Your Skillz:
- 15+ years experience, including 5+ years of public company experience in the technology (or interactive media) industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA a must, MBA a plus)
- Ability to create and manage complex accounting and reporting systems/processes
- Successful management experience in accounting and audit procedures/operations
- Prior experience working in a fast paced startup environment
- Strong attention to detail, systems development and organizational management
- Due diligence, merger/acquisition and business integration experience a plus
- Demonstrated educational success at a reputable university
- Committed to continuous learning and improvement (self and team)
- Prior Big 4, 8+ years public accounting / audit experience
