The Omeda Journey so far
It was the 9th of June 2018. A man by the name of SergeantSmokie uploads a mysterious trailer on Reddit for a game called Predecessor. Some might recognise the assets, made freely available on UE. This was the promise of not just Paragon 2.0, but something more. Soon after the trailer, Fringe joins the ranks as voted by the community, and before we know it, Omeda is born.
Fast forward to 27th of January 2020. RGSACE gracefully accepts the helm of this studio. A popular streamer on the Paragon field, with his financial prowess he secures the funding ($2.2M Seed, and more recently $20M Series A) that Omeda needs to take off and thrive. Since then, Omeda has steadily grown an international team with a clear vision: Bring Predecessor to life.
And here's where you come in! We are seeking an experienced and talented Character Concept Artist to join our team and help create visually stunning characters for our Early-Access third-person action MOBA, Predecessor. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of character design, anatomy, and the ability to create highly detailed and polished concept art.
In This Role You Will
- Take an active role in the constant evolution of the game, working with all disciplines to understand the vision and design and bringing it to life in your concept
- Work closely with Character Art and Game Design to develop and refine unique character designs for the game
- Create detailed concepts for characters, creatures, robots and character skins, including shape exploration, character turnarounds, poses, and their abilities
- Collaborate with Art Team to ensure that the concept art is following our guidelines and solve problems before they arise in production
- Continuously improve and refine the character designs based on feedback from the development team
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of professional experience in character concept art for video games
- An inspiring portfolio that demonstrates character concept development
- Strong understanding of character design principles
- A solid understanding of art fundamentals (anatomy, lighting, composition, colour theory, value, form, scale, shape language and silhouette)
- Interest in games and popular culture
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present feedback and ideas in a clear and concise manner
- Knowledge of when to work widely and fast as well as when to narrow in and focus on a single idea
Nice to Have
- Basic modeling experience with industry-standard software such as Maya and sculpting experience
- Familiar with the Unreal Engine to capture own assets
- Experience creating Illustrations and Keyart
- Passionate about MOBAs
