Character Artist – Create- NHL (Temporary)

The character artist is an essential role in top-tier video game creation. In the context of our games, they will create a cast of characters that populate the game universe. Our character artists are dynamic and efficient modelers with sculpting and texturing skills – able to create outstanding content with an imagination that is always in motion. We create amazing character models based on scan data or photo references.

Responsibilities::

  1. 3D Character work experience in film or games.
  2. Skills in more than one discipline such as illustration, animation, VFX, rigging, or technical art.
  3. Ability to create solid wardrobe or uniform pieces
  4. Experience using cloth simulation.
  5. Experience with Substance Painter or Substance Designer.
  6. Love and passion for video games.

Qualifications:

  1. 3+ years of experience in video games. Film and television experience would also be considered.
  2. Expert in high-fidelity 3D modeling/sculpting techniques, along with high-poly to low-poly surface/detail baking
  3. Demonstrated strong understanding of anatomy skills and able to hit likeness from scratch or scanned data.
  4. Able to visualize in three-dimensions and work from limited reference material/concept art
  5. Experienced in Maya, Z-Brush, and Photoshop
  6. Understands Physically Based Rendering texture and material workflows.
  7. Understands modeling game topology with rigging and animation in mind.
  8. Able to ramp quickly with proprietary tools and software
  9. Gifted with a strong sense of proportion and composition with a superior eye for surface, color, and detail
  10. Efficient in use of UV layout, and ability to edit for highest visual payoff
  11. Passion for improving pipelines and artist workflows.
  12. Able to communicate and work as a part of a team.
