Central Technology Engineering Discipline Manager

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll get to learn about and support various parts of our engineering discipline in the Central Technology organization. You will recruit, teach, coach, and mentor with a focus on cultivating a healthy and engaged engineering organization across teams. You will help engineers navigate team transitions. You will also get to help improve our management practices. Every day will present new and interesting opportunities!
While we value and desire a technical background, this role is primarily focused on people management and organizational health. A growth mindset is going to be your most useful trait, along with empathy and conscientiousness.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support, coaching, and career development advice to direct reports
- Find and escalate problems in the engineering discipline, and help to create and implement solutions
- Collaborate with Team Leads across Central Technology to help your direct reports succeed
- Manage up to 10 engineers
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to manage, coach, and mentor 10+ engineers across a variety of teams.
- Enthusiastic about developing inclusive, diverse, and equitable engineering organizations
- Ability to build relationships, give feedback, and handle difficult conversations, all in a diverse and multidisciplinary environment
- Ability to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders across the organization to build context for the challenges your direct reports face
- Ability to effectively write clear, concise, and accurate documentation and communications
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS
- An understanding of game development culture
- Interest in automating away toil in leadership workflows
- Ability to read and write code in a compiled language, for familiarity with the challenges of our most common engineering subdisciplines
