Blur Studio is seeking a CG Supervisor who will work closely with the director, producer, and clients to identify potential strategies, assess technical options, critique creative progress, and evaluate production schedules. This key player will be responsible for all CG aspects of production by developing, maintaining, or improving techniques and providing team-building through developing structure, lead artist roles, and delegation. Additionally, this person will participate daily as a leader and hands-on contributor through all stages of Pre and Post Production to provide artistic and technical notes and direction to the team. The CG Supervisor will also be involved in client interactions in order to represent Blur's capabilities both technically and creatively.

Responsibilities:

- Partner with the Director, Producer, and artists to define the creative and technical approach for the show

- Collaborate with clients to receive the brief, discuss Blur's capabilities, and determine the deadlines for a delivery

- Team with production to manage the day-to-day running of the team, setting clear objectives and monitoring the process, progress, and results

- Evaluate the creative requirements of a project, determine the technical implications and make high-level operational decisions

- Evaluate artist schedules ensuring they are realistic and achievable

- Perform creative rounds with all members of the team on a regular basis

- Conduct reviews as final quality control on all deliveries of shots and models prior to director and client review

- Meet regularly with department leads to identify and troubleshoot inefficiencies or technical problems with the toolset and pipeline, and put in a place a plan of action to resolve such issues

- Verify that all work carried out on the show fits within Blur's pipeline where possible

- Ensure that 3D assets artistically meet the concept but also technically meet the needs of other departments

- Identify areas of R&D for the show

- Assist in the recruitment of 3D artists to ensure the right fit, skills, and experience required for projects and teams

Requirements:

- Extensive experience in CG or VFX leadership using 3dsMax and VRay on game, commercial, or feature film productions

- Exceptional working knowledge of 3D software packages and pipelines and the ability to specify efficient workflows and identify additional tools

- Strong working knowledge of node-based compositing (Nuke knowledge a plus)

- Solid knowledge and experience of all areas of 3D (modeling, rigging, texturing, look development, environments, lighting, and FX)

- Knowledge of editorial and finishing software (Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, etc.)

- Excellent problem-solving skills

- An experienced and honed creative eye

- Knowledge of the entire production process

- Expert understanding of rendering methods

- Ability to review other artists' work and ensure a high standard both artistically and technically

- Leadership skills to successfully delegate, mentor, and manage people and projects

- Understanding of client approval processes

- Strong sense of team dynamics and a positive morale-generating style

- Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills

- Proven creative ability and artistic flair

Pluses:

- Knowledge of Python or Maxscript

- Experience on-set or in live-action VFX production

- Experience in Houdini
