We're Criterion, and we love making games!

For more than fifteen years we've entertained millions of players around the world with our award-winning games. Our experienced people have expressed their passion for phenomenal game feel, AAA audiovisual quality, and technical innovation in the Burnout & Need for Speed series and in Battlefield 1, Star Wars X-Wing VR, Starfighter Assault, Arcade for Star Wars Battlefront II and Firestorm for Battlefield V.

We believe that healthy, engaged teams make great games, so we place enormous value on collaboration, fresh ideas, and unique perspectives. We'd love to hear yours! Crunch doesn't help make a better game. We don't do it. For the past three years, we are very proud to have been recognised by gamesindustry.biz as one of the best places to work in the UK. Let's talk about how you would be a part of it.

Responsibilities

We also love getting better at making games. One way of improving the way we make games is by having better tools to help everyone on the team do their job better, faster, and with less friction. As a tools engineer, you will use your skills to identify ways of making people's everyday work easier through the creation of tools built using web technologies. You will work with all disciplines within the studio and be challenged with fresh and new opportunities daily. You will work embedded with these teams to provide end-to-end solutions in a live development environment. You will be supported by a great team of experienced engineers and will be an important part of delivering the player experience on time and at quality.

Requirements

On a technical level, we want you to have a passion for building tools with C++ and C#, an understanding of Windows system programming, and 3D math such as trigonometry and matrices. But also a sense of adventure, a desire to try things quickly, and the good sense to know when something is not working right. We value engineers who can think for themselves and be creative with the solutions they offer and provide incremental benefits to the team as the solution is developed. You will need to drive and demonstrate solutions to lots of people lots of the time. There will be something new every week and every day and you will need to adapt to that change and helping that change be for the better.
