Business Intelligence Developer

Dubit is looking for a smart and inquisitive business intelligence developer with strengths in collecting, collating and reporting big data from various sources.

You would be joining our Metaverse research team as resident insights expert. We investigate immersive digital worlds that allow kids to socialise, play, express themselves and find content that suits them. At the moment, that means big name games like Roblox, Minecraft and Fortnite.
What will you do?
Part of your time will be spent leading new metaverse research. This would involve:
- Sourcing useful online information on games and digital experiences
- Automated data collection using web scrapers
- Storing that data in databases
- Designing efficient queries to access and reshape data
- Collating and processing data to generate insight
- Communicating that insight with interactive tools and reports
- Identifying avenues for future research
Another portion of your time would be spent working on the Dubit Trends Portal, an interactive dashboard that allows our clients to interrogate our survey data. This would involve:
- Identifying interesting insights from Dubit Trends data
- Creating and maintaining sensible data models
- Identifying bad data (e.g. outliers, errors, suspicious patterns)
- Manipulating data frames and raw data
- Writing measures/functions to run analyses
- Creating and using templates to produce reports to specification
- Creating and updating interactive reports from customer requests
What is required?
You will be an analytical thinker and independent learner with plenty of experience analysing and visualising big data. You will be able to independently identify and pursue interesting research avenues and develop resulting insight into useful tools, technologies and reports.
You will have experience with the following software and technologies.
Web scraping and data storage:
- Scraping dynamically generated web pages (Selenium or similar)
- Node (required, existing scraping code running in Node)
- MongoDB (required, existing datasets in MongoDB)
- Version control (e.g. Git)
Data manipulation:
- Excel (strong understanding of formulae and functions)
- SPSS and Syntax (similar like Matlab, SAS, R considered)
- Power Query
- DAX
Reporting:
- Power BI (similar considered, e.g. Tableau)
- Presentation software (Keynote, PowerPoint, similar)
Ideal candidates would also be familiar with:
- DAX Studio
- ALM Toolkit
- Tabular editor
- SQL, other databases
Flexibility and Location
This position is flexible worldwide and can be local or remote (or a mixture of both). Our offices in Leeds would be at your disposal post-lockdown. They have free parking and are walking distance from Leeds Train Station.
