Business Affairs Director

Role and purpose
Due to our growth, we've created a new, exciting opportunity for a Business Affairs Director to join the Sumo Business Development team. Reporting to the Commercial Director and working closely with the Legal team, Finance, and Studio Development Directors, this role requires extensive experience and exceptional problem solving, organisational, and communicational skills.
We're comfortable for this role to be based at any of our UK studios.
Within this role you will:
- Reviewing and negotiating mutually beneficial commercial contracts from a wide range of partners, licensors, and technology middleware companies.
- Close and regular liaison with Sumo’s Legal team, Finance team, and Studio Directors.
- Take ownership of and drive internal Contract Review and Execution processes to ensure key stakeholder visibility and optimal turnaround timings.
- Wherever relevant, provide specialist knowledge to colleagues to increase awareness around key business implications and areas of contractual risk.
- A key role in all commercial matters, develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
To be successful you will need:
- Game industry experience.
- Familiarity with development and other contracts.
- A sound understanding of the commercial role within the games industry.
- Ability to thrive when faced with complex business issues under pressured deadlines.
- Can operate equally as effectively both solo or as part of a team.
- Ability to identify potential commercial issues in advance and develop pragmatic solutions.
Although not essential, it would be helpful if you have
- Articulate with a professional manner.
- Highly organised with a proactive work ethic.
- Attention to detail.
- Clear communicator (in writing and orally) of commercial terms and concepts
We are comfortable for this person to work from any of our UK studios or be based from home however we do need this person to be comfortable with regular travel to all of our UK studios
