About this role
As a Build Designer, you are the bridge between an HCI Researcher and an Instructional Designer. You will work closely with our Instructional Design team to design L&D courses for our corporate clients in VR using our web creation tool, becoming the go-to expert in its use. Working to understand our clients’ needs, you will touch all CG experiences, looking for patterns and trends. With this knowledge, you will provide guidance to the Instructional Designers to improve immersion, share knowledge with our research partners, shape the development of our SDK and authoring toolkits, and inform best practices for external content development.
What you will do
- Look for patterns in client and instructional designer requests to identify and design new features
- Define new interactions to test and implement using Strivr content creation tool and Unity
- Become the go-to expert on our content creation tool, building out customer experiences, informing the design process based on tool constraints, and understanding the technical roadmap.
- Diagnose asset issues in Unity, either solving them yourself or triaging to engineering
- Perform quality check in VR headsets, looking for art asset or bug related issues
- Collaborate with our UX, Customer Success, and HCI Researchers at the end of high touch projects to identify if a new feature idea was successful. Document learnings to share with our partners at the Stanford HCI lab.
- Compile learnings to inform best practices for our SDK and external content developers
Requirements
Minimum qualifications
- 5+ years shipping products as Game Designer (or equivalent experience in other industries)
- 3-5+ years experience using Unity
- Understanding of HCI Principles
- Experience creating player immersion
- High attention to detail
- Excellent written/verbal communication, interpersonal & organizational skills
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in version control software (perforce or source tree)
- Experience with L+D, particularly performance centered design, and/or information design
- Experience with AR / VR / XR
- Familiarity with GSuite, Slack and Azure Dev Ops
Benefits
The annual compensation range for this position is $100,000-$150,000. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
Benefits offered for this position include 90% employer-paid healthcare for employee and dependents (medical, dental, vision); 401K with 50% employer match (up to 4%); open PTO policy; 16-week parental leave; basic life insurance, AD&D, and short-term disability.
