Manages the development, implementation and maintenance of the company’s benefits programs including, retirement plans, disability, flexible spending, group health/medical/dental coverage, vendor management, and life insurance.
Administers and communicates the company's benefits program in regard to plan options, policy features, enrollment and other requirements. Surveys market data in order to determine company’s competitive position in employee benefits. Develops programs designed to keep employees informed about company benefit plans and any proposed changes. Ensures that programs are current with regard to trends, practices and analyzes costs. Negotiates coverage, services and costs with carriers and brokers.
What you'll be doing:
- Ensure employee inquiries are supported with an “employee first” attitude and proactive support. Functions as a liaison between vendors and employees
- Maintain and upkeep benefit information and policies on internal communications resources, and develop new communication materials, strategies and project plans to enhance employees’ understanding of benefits offerings
- Lead the annual benefit renewal process and recommend go-forward approach taking into consideration feedback from internal stakeholders, market research, and cost analysis
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, completing compliance requirements including but not limited to audits, 5500 filings, ACA reporting, and summary annual report postings
- Handle Leave of Absence Administration (30% of time)
- Provide guidance and education to employees on legislative leave of absences and determine eligibility
- Partner with HR Business partners, employees, and managers, to ensure that proper communication and coordination takes place
- Coordinate benefits for employees on leave. Review and coordinate work accommodations as necessary
- 401(k) Administration
- Review plan design on an annual basis along with quarterly and annual audits
- In partnership with 401(k) vendor, manage program education for employees
- Auditing of deferrals and loans on a routine basis. Manage required annual reporting & compliance requirements
- In partnership with Payroll, ensure accurate deductions and plan funding
Your background and who you are:
- 5+ years’ experience in Benefits with experience leading Benefits projects that execute on broader HR strategies
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the US markets and ability to assess and action current programs for compliance
- Organized and self-sufficient with the ability to manage multiple high priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate, develop partnerships and instill trust of vendors, managers, and employees
- Must be adaptable and solution-oriented; able to thrive amidst uncertainty and shifting priorities
- Proactive, eager, energetic, team player who works well both independently and in collaboration with other members of the team
