Audio Lead

ProbablyMonsters is looking for a creative, technical, and collaborative Audio Lead. You will join a team concentrated on building new game concepts and worlds centered around a focused player experience. As part of the Incubation team, you’ll have the freedom to create, experiment, and try new game ideas while forming new franchises and development teams. Everyone on the Incubation team is enthusiastic about helping to shape a culture of collaboration and trust while creating best-in-class games.
The salary range for this position is $117,300 – $176,000. This range represents the salary for the position commensurate with experience, knowledge, and demonstrated success in the field.
WHO YOU ARE:
- You are an experienced lead and seasoned audio developer.
- You have strong planning, organizational, and communication skills, able to generate actionable, achievable tasks from planning and feedback sessions.
- You have a strong foundational understanding of all aspects of game audio and the role of an audio team throughout the lifecycle of a game.
- You have a refined audio aesthetic with a keen ear for detail and nuance, understanding the impact audio has on the overall quality of a game: providing immersion and information, as well as evoking emotion from the player.
- You thrive collaborating across disciplines, effectively communicating the needs and goals of audio to developers.
- You excel at sharing your knowledge and experiences with peers, by informing best practices, documentation, and finding opportunities for mentoring.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Attending production, planning, and review sessions to set and inform the goals, schedule, progress, and next steps of the audio team.
- Coordinating music composition, technical sound design, and implementation needs with the central PM Audio team.
- Recording original content for our projects and to augment our proprietary audio library.
- Working with Gameplay Designers to make sure audio is supporting gameplay mechanics and providing player feedback.
- Collaborating with the central PM Audio team to develop and refine our in-game audio systems, implementation pipeline, and supporting documentation.
- Designing and implementing sounds for a variety of interactive and linear content.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- You have direct experience in game audio team leadership, having shipped game titles as an audio lead, senior or supervising sound designer, or equivalent role.
- You have years of professional sound design experience in linear and/or interactive entertainment, with a demo reel containing examples of your work.
- You have a proven ability to conceptualize and create immersive and emotional audio experiences in video games with a high bar of quality.
- You have a deep and current knowledge of game audio best practices, implementation tools, and technologies.
- You have direct experience using project management tools, including Jira, Confluence, Favro, or similar, to drive planning of your work.
- You have experience recording in the studio and in the field.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Proficient in Wwise and Unreal.
- Reaper or equivalent modern DAW.
- Microsoft Office.
