Audio Director

Atomic Arcade is a brand-new video game development studio located in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area led by industry veterans from AAA game and film studios. We are in the process of staffing up our development team with outstanding talent to build our first multi-platform, AAA game - a bold and contemporary new take on the GI JOE Universe starring the legendary character Snake Eyes! This is an excellent opportunity to not only build an outstanding AAA experience but to also help form the core foundations for the studio and team to build upon. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Audio Director to join us to establish and implement a cohesive and highly engaging audio experience.

Reporting to the Creative Director, the Audio Director will play a meaningful role in establishing the audio vision and road map for the franchise as we kick off pre-production. In this role, you will lead our external audio team and deliver an immersive soundscape that elevates the player experience of our first game. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader in sound design and audio production for AAA games who fosters teamwork and builds trust with leadership and developers alike.

What You’ll Do:

• Establish and articulate a vision for the overall audio needs of the project including in-game sound design, dialogue/VO, cinematics, music, etc.
• Direct, manage and collaborate with external audio design partner(s) to deliver industry-leading sound design.
• Collaborate with the Creative Director on selection of a composer and lead music production for the soundtrack of the game.
• Collaborate with the Creative Director and other leads on casting, VO, and PCap for cinematics.
• Craft technical audio requirements for the Engineering team and assure they're met.
• Work hand in hand with Design and Engineering to integrate sound design into the development planning and pipeline, creating a collaborative relationship that fosters quality and a healthy work environment.
• Maintain the audio budget in partnership with the Production team to align audio planning with the rest of the project.

What You’ll Bring:

• 8+ years in audio production at a senior level on multiple AAA games.
• Completed at least 1 full development cycle in Audio Director or comparable position.
• Deep understanding and working experience with industry standard AAA game audio technology (i.e. Wwise, Fmod, Miles, etc.) and Unreal engine specific proficiency with a focus on audio implementation.
• Musical knowledge as a producer, composer, and/or musician.
• Solid foundation in audio equipment setup and usage.
• Preferred experience in action centric AAA video games.
• Ability to manage budgets, contracts, schedules, and production for both internal and external audio teams and vendors.
• Experience working with composers, soundtrack recording, and production.
• Experience with VO recording and PCap.
• Team leadership and mentorship skills.
• Open and collaborative communications style.
