Moonshot is looking for a talented and passionate Audio Designer to help us work on our brand new IP! Whether it’s creating sound for unique characters, exciting weapons, wondrous ambiences or satisfying UI, your role will run the gamut in both creating and implementing elements into our game.

A great sounding experience is fundamental to the kind of awe and wonder we want our players to feel during the game, and will help shape the stories they share long after. Collaborating with the rest of the members of the Moonshot development team will be key in achieving that goal, and you’ll interact daily with programmers, VFX artists, animators, and producers both in terms of evaluating your own work, and helping inform the work of others.

We can’t wait to hear what you’ll come up with!

Moonshot Games is a new studio based in Irvine, California. We love games and believe in their unique superpower to create personal, unforgettable stories that bring friends and the community closer together. We are building a culture of shared ownership where everyone gets a chance to weigh in and help set direction for the game. Our studio is in its early days, which means there’s tons of opportunity to have a big impact on what we are making as well as in the overall direction of the company. Most importantly, we know our games will be at their best when a variety of voices, identities and perspectives go into their creation, so come join us!

What your day to day will look like…

  • Use library source and your own recordings to create and implement original sounds for our characters, weapons, environments, UI, etc.
  • Help implement deliverables from outsourcing like dialogue, foley, etc.
  • Work closely with other disciplines to ensure the best ideas reach the top, whether they be audio-related or otherwise
  • Playtest regularly to ensure a high aesthetic bar, and to identify, prioritize, report and resolve audio bugs/issues
  • Be an advocate for finding new ways to optimize and improve development practices and studio culture

Some of the things you bring to the table…

  • A keen ear for creating the right sound for the right moment, whether that be communicating an emotional beat or a key gameplay cue
  • A self-motivated attitude to take on work, help others, and advance your own skills without the need for specific instruction
  • Strong problem solving skills to accurately assess issues and formulate creative solutions, whether design or technical
  • Excellent communication skills to give and request assistance with problems and issues across the development team
  • Extraordinary team attitude to receive and act on changes and direction
  • Proficiency using game engines and middleware (e.g., Unreal/Wwise) to implement audio and create interactive audio systems

Pluses…

  • Experience through a production cycle of a shipped video game
  • Expertise in the holistic game audio process (sound design, voice over, music implementation, technology, player experience, etc.)

Application materials needed

  • Resume and portfolio with a video showreel highlighting sound design expertise (no need to demonstrate musical proficiency)

Other Information

  • Remote work will be considered for this role
