As an Associate Combat Designer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing mechanics in pursuit of intuitiveness, fantasy, and satisfying feel, aligning with Blizzard’s core value of Gameplay First.

COVID-19 Hiring Update: We've transitioned to a work-from-home model, and we're continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role is expected to begin as a remote position. We understand each person's circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore possible interim options.
We need your help with:
Analyzing, pitching, prototyping, balancing, and developing core combat and
moment-to-moment mechanics/systems for an unannounced project.
Advocating for feel, feedback, and intuitive mechanics for all aspects of
moment-to-moment play.
Developing creative concepts and drive them to completion.
Collaborating and coordinate with multiple disciplines.
Remaining current on industry trends including new game genres, new game design methods and techniques, and trending audio-visual excellence.
You’re good at:
- Communicating design vision and aligning vision within the team.
- Having a broad, extensive player experience with FPS and action games, both single-player and online.
- Analyzing combat feel
- Understanding player motivations
- Demonstrating your scripting skills.
- Self-critiquing and accepting outside feedback.
- Being self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
Extra awesome points for:
- An understanding of systems design, player psychology, and emerging industry trends.
- Experience with versatile game development tools such as Unity and Unreal.
- Previous work on combat mechanics
- Experience designing Melee weapons
