Associate VFX Artist

SEMC is looking for an Associate VFX Artist to join us in our mission to create amazing high-fidelity mobile games and beyond. Buckle up and get ready for GROWTH! Level up your craft on a team of experienced effects artists, and construct stunning and expressive real-time VFX while working closely with a delightful team of artists, designers, and programmers to create moments that bring our current and future titles to life. Expect to work with our wonderful tools team, too, to identify new features and functionality for our engine and editor.

Responsibilities
- Work with your VFX teammates to create breathtaking effects for UI, environments, and characters that communicate essential gameplay information.
- Tune effect fidelity and prominence for proper read priority.
- Optimize effects for performance!
- Collaborate across disciplines on new features and help identify challenges and find solutions along the way.
- Build a comprehensive knowledge of the VFX art production pipelines, tools, and systems.
- Actively develop and improve skills by exploring our tools and maintaining awareness of industry trends and techniques.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable experience with particle effects and shader/material editing in UE4+, Unity, or proprietary engines.
- Ability to deconstruct complex visual effects from reference and recreate them in a game engine.
- A sense of lighting, color, form, and motion.
- Interest and proficiency in technical problem solving and scripting.
- Self-motivated with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Experience in Photoshop and Maya/Blender.
- Good communication, time management, and prioritization skills.
Bonus Skills
- Hand drawn 2D animation experience.
- Experience working in proprietary game engines, node-based shader and particle editors.
