Harebrained Schemes is looking for a versatile, technically minded Associate UI/UX Designer to help develop and implement assets to be used in our games. If you are a thoughtful collaborator, with a deep understanding of—and appreciation for—player experiences in tactical and strategy games, we’d love to talk with you.
This is a full time, individual contributor role that can be fully remote for candidates able to work Pacific Time hours, with preference given to those who are available to work on-site two days a week in our hybrid Kirkland, WA office.
All interviews will be done virtually.
What You’ll Do
- Work directly within Unity to import the UI team’s assets and set them up for Engineering implementation.
- Handle the importation of additional work (icons, etc.) from external vendors when required.
What You’ll Bring
- You can learn, or have prior experience, working directly in an engine such as Unity or Unreal (our projects are in Unity).
- You have a passion for user experience in games.
- You have extreme attention to detail, you can take complex files from the Art Team and import them into Unity, setting them up correctly for Engineering implementation.
- You love working with others - we’re a highly-collaborative bunch.
- You enjoy playing complex titles, like the ones released by Harebrained Schemes and Paradox Interactive.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with working in Unity or Unreal game development software.
- Familiarity with Adobe creative suite.
- Familiarity with interface design tools such as Figma.

Salary Range
$60-71K
At HBS, we set our salary ranges by balancing benchmarking data for the game industry with internal equity, making sure our offers are in line with the pay of others in the studio who have similar roles and seniority. When a role can be filled by candidates at different levels, base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience.
The total compensation package also includes other elements, such as profit sharing with our parent company, eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan with matching contributions from HBS, as well as medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
