Associate UI Artist

What We Need:

Our Foothill Ranch, CA studio is seeking an Associate UI Artist to join our development efforts on an exciting new game! Within this role, you will utilize your traditional art training and knowledge of illustration, graphic design, and computer graphics software to create a visually compelling and user-friendly interface.

What You Will Do:

• Develop and shape the UI visual design needs in accordance with the project's game design philosophies and artistic directions
• Concept, iterate, and produce assets throughout all stages of development from pre-viz to final game assets and help to develop a cohesive UI style guide with leads and key stakeholders
• Prioritize, plan, and organize UI output, working with development partners on how best to deliver and execute on the creative vision
• Collaborate effectively with game design and art to visually represent game design intentions with Triple-A game quality visuals
• Learn new tools and processes that help to elevate the quality of the UI aesthetics that enhances the overall user experience
• Ensure assets are fully optimized and performant while minimizing impact on artistic integrity

Who You Are:

• 1+ years of experience as a UI professional within the video game industry, ideally having worked on either a console or PC game
• Experience with working within Unreal Engine, UMG, and its production pipelines
• Ability to work with industry standard 2D graphics applications and prototyping tools used in UI / UX designs (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects etc.)
• Excellent graphic design skills (e.g. Design, layout, and typography)
• Awareness of current trends in visual communication and how best to adapt those trends into an interactive game experience
• Strong sense of user experience in video games
• Organized and detailed with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to take direction and feedback well, and collaborate with peers

Pluses:

• Knowledge of creating materials and material instances in Unreal Engine
• Experience in creating motion graphics, ideally with Adobe After Effects
