Associate Software Engineer (Early Career)

Riot engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the opportunity to work in many broader domains. As an Associate Software Engineer, you’ll also dive into projects that focus on team cohesiveness and cross-team goals. You’ll lead without authority and provide other engineers with a clear illustration of extraordinary engineering.

In this role, you will be either working on the League of Legends or VALORANT games teams.

League of Legends: League of Legends is the first game we published at Riot. Since it’s release in 2009, League of Legends quickly became the most played game ever, tallying over 100 million monthly players.

As an Associate Software Engineer on these teams you will help Riot continue to build and deliver on our live games. You will keep the players' experience in mind as you build systems and features to support these games. You will also work with artists, designers, and producers to deliver genre-defining experiences to our players.

We have roles open on multiple teams, where you will report to an Engineering Manager, and work with a group of 3-10 people.

Responsibilities:

• Help build the engine technology, gameplay technology, and/or the services that power our games
• Build and implement tools for other Rioters across multiple platforms (Artists, Engineers,
• Collaborate with diverse teams (including Game Designers, Artists, Animators, and Producers) to shape player experiences
• Write unit tests and integration tests to ensure high quality code
• Deliver code to players in a bi-weekly release cadence
• Required Qualifications
• Knowledge of data structures and algorithms
• Coding experience with an object-oriented programming (OOP) language i.e. Java, C++

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent study
• Experience with Unreal Engine
• Familiarity working in an agile environment
• Familiarity with the software development life cycle (SDLC)
• Familiarity with software development best practices like unit testing, functional testing, integration testing, CI/CD
