Your Mission

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an Associate Product Manager to lead the design and execution of esports programs for Hearthstone.

The ideal candidate possesses a passion for esports and Hearthstone, strong problem-solving skills, and a proven history of managing complex projects with diverse stakeholders. The candidate should have experience working with global teams, an understanding of event and broadcast management, and hold themselves to an unwavering quality standard.

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

• Lead an internal and external team responsible for the execution of high-profile esports competitions for Hearthstone, with an emphasis on operations excellence, participant experience, and quality of content.
• Collaborate with the internal stakeholders to design and iterate formats and systems that meet key game objectives, while also aligning with esports business priorities
• Work with partners to ensure high-quality and impactful event and broadcast production and operations
• Define and communicate the program’s creative vision, from program structure to execution and branding
• Accountable for all aspects of program execution, including vendor management, live broadcasts, tournament administration, player and talent management, promotions, legal framework, merchandise, live events, live broadcasts, and communications (internal and external)
• Track and stay within budgets, making critical spending decisions where necessary
• Communicate and report program status across team and organization
• Identify new opportunities in each global region, while assessing risks and creating targeted strategies
• Collaborate with esports leadership to establish product KPIs and measure, track, and report progress over time
• Collaborate closely with the Hearthstone game team in order to ensure esports programs contribute to the overall franchise goals
• Prioritize and balance between competing objectives and stakeholder groups
• Create a vision for the future of Hearthstone Esports that tracks with the evolution of the game, what audiences are interested in, and what players want to participate and compete in
• Act as a spokeperson and public face of the Hearthstone Esports programs internally and externally
• Build and maintain exceptional relationships with multi-disciplinary teams across the company to gain buy-in and execute plans

Player Profile

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in product and/or project management
• Deep understanding of event management and broadcast production
• Strong analytical skills that help reveal insights on how to improve with each broadcast
• Experience managing a budget and working with international teams
• Strategic thinker with excellent leadership, management, and communications skills
• Strong understanding of traditional sports ecosystem
• Able to occasionally travel, including internationally
• Able to organize thoughts and make decisions under time constraints and a full workload
• Passionate player of video games, particularly Hearthstone
• Boundless enthusiasm for esports
