Job Description
Reporting to the Cinematic Producer, the Associate Producer (AP) is responsible for overseeing all activities related to production side of cinematic content creation. The AP will oversee a team of Production Mangers each assigned to their own cinematic project across all of Ubisoft. The AP ensures quality is met at a predictable cadence and within the resources budgeted. This oversight spans multiple projects that are in production at the same time
The daily life of an Associate Producer at Ubisoft Toronto:
- Lead the cinematic production management department in the strategizing, planning and execution of cinematic production;
- Own the production roadmap for all projects;
- Own the budgets and production plans for all projects;
- Establish clear expectations and define deliverables with productions;
- Interface directly with production leadership to help define production requirements;
- Continue building on a strong commitment to collaboration within the studio, with other departments, and with other Ubisoft studios;
- Work with the department to continue building on level of service as a priority;
- Track key deliverables and communicate progress to production stakeholders. Ensure producers are provided with critical information required for the respective game plans;
- Anticipate and manage priority conflicts caused by the production schedules of the various game projects;
- Anticipate risks and implement contingency plans to deal with any delays that may affect project content, timelines or quality;
- Evaluate and propose solutions to optimize processes and working methods within the department;
- Partner with Operations Department to manage resource allocation within the area of focus, determine resource needs, and establish hiring plans when required;
- Participate in the coaching and development of direct reports.
Manage the production of cinematics to include:
- Managing the cinematics production pipeline including: previz, casting, mocap readiness, shoot, layout, cinematography, animation, VFX, lighting, scripting, tech and implementation of data into the game;
- Planning and continually improving the full scope of cinematics production to deliver high quality creative content while mitigating studio level risk;
- Defining the schedule and budget for cinematics productions. Tracking and reporting actuals;
- Partner with other operations department to balance resource contention;
- Managing development efforts to keep product development on schedule and within budget;
- Ability to anticipate risks and drive solutions across the team to head off challenges before they occur;
- Significant level of communication vertically and horizontally;
- Foster and maintain relationships with internal and external team members.
Manage day-to-day production issues through analytic thinking and information gathering. This would include:
- Assimilating diverse information and assessing the impact on each piece of the project as well as on the project as a whole;
- Holding regular meetings with the project production managers and individuals to discuss status, resolve issues and share information;
- Ensuring a common understanding and agreement on the project scope and objectives and on any subsequent changes.
Contribute to current and future Product Development needs. This contribution would include:
- Maintaining and enhancing creative relationships with internal development team;
- Participation in performance review process;
- Review and evaluate competitive products;
- Maintaining and enhancing necessary processes and procedures for production and product development;
- Provides resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems and uses judgement within defined policies and practices.
Qualifications

- Experience in video game production;
- Experience in motion capture production;
- Experience working with ACTRA with a good understanding of the agreement.
