Associate Player Experience Manager (9-month Fixed Term Contract)

The Player Experience team aims to provide a unified source and opinion of player feedback, ensuring it is constantly and profitably delivered into the various Total War teams. As a member of this team, the Associate Player Experience Manager is responsible for managing the feedback pipeline for the more immediate needs of the community, contributing to the objectives of the Player Experience Team.
The person in this crucial role will sit within the Player Experience Team acting as the structured, thoughtful voice of the player base within the studio, across various development and marketing teams for all Total War projects.
You’ll be a diligent and methodical worker, ensuring that all valid feedback is captured and tracked and clearly demonstrate the credibility of the feedback and refine it into clear action points for development or marketing strategy.
The primary responsibilities of the Associate Player Experience Manager are:
Daily Player Feedback: Utilising a variety of methods, identify the valid/trending issues and suggestions raised by the community for current titles and record them for visibility of the Development and Live Ops teams.
Weekly Summaries: Building off these daily records, identify the top issues of the week that may need urgent addressal as well as any “quick wins”. These will be compiled into weekly reports that are sent out to the wider studio.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Player Feedback:
- Covers the key English-speaking Total War communities. Including Reddit, Official Forums & Steam forums
- Utilising task management tools, like Jira to update and track issues with other members of the team
- Working closely with LiveQA, Brand and Development teams to agree upon and maintain a process for closing the loop on this feedback – proactively chasing various teams to ensure progress if necessary
Weekly Summaries:
- Summarises the top issues recorded for the week for the key Total War titles in development
- Contains the top 5 trending issues that could be problematic if ignored
- Contains any issues that may escalate if left unchecked
- These are combined into the Player Experience Teams weekly report
Rules of Engagement
This role lays the groundwork for the player experience teams key day to day contribution to the development process. By helping to provide the raw feedback, categorised and filtered – it allows for proposals to be made confidently to development teams to ensure a positive player experience across Total War.
Further
With the fixed term of the contract occurring during the COVID19 pandemic, the role will require a diligent and self-organised home worker who is able to self-structure and remain motivated on delivering on their objectives. The candidate will also need to be comfortable using video conferencing as the primary method to communicate across the business.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience
Essential
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with all levels of seniority, internally and externally across a variety of channels
- Superb reporting skills, able to filter information fast and deliver it to the right set of stakeholders
- Formidable organisations skills, and a pro-active and troubleshooting attitude to resolve blockers and source solutions quickly
- Entrepreneurial and self-motivated, able to spot opportunities, creatively problem solve and initiate and finish projects to spec and deadline
- Strong familiarisation with the strategy genre and finger on the pulse of the current mood and direction of the wider PC player community
- Experience with project management tools, such as Jira or Trello
- Experience playing one of the games within the Total War franchise
Desirable
- Public-facing communications experience
- QA and/or Customer Service experience in a software environment, familiarity with the design process and bug reporting software, best practice and related methodologies
- A thorough appreciation of the Total War range of titles specifically with experience in the Total War modding community
- Understanding of the wider software development process and games industry
