Associate Network Engineer
San Mateo, CA
As a primary member of the IT Network Engineering team you will be responsible for operating and contributing to the enhancement of advanced corporate IP networks in a fast paced, challenging environment. The role will entail operational and project based work across the SIE IT department, as well as global business units in SIE and Sony operating companies.
Responsibilities:
- View and resolve tickets from Tier 1&2 support for end-user network (wired and wireless) problems
- Improve runbooks for Tier 1&2 support if common issues are repeated
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware and software directed by Network Engineers and Architects
- Leverage networking tools to identify and mitigate network anomalies
- Analyze application data and traffic flow data to identify and improve sub-optimal network behaviors
- Participate in developing policies, procedures and technical reports associated with operating and maintaining the global network
- Contribute to the design of inter-site WANs, campus LANs and WLANs, and data center LANs
- Help select, install, configure, and maintain network devices like routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, VPN concentrators, etc.
- Use and manage network monitoring tools and systems
- Help manage DNS and DHCP services for the enterprise
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in enterprise networking
- Bachelors or advanced technical degree preferred
- Professional and vendor certifications for relevant technologies and products
- Knowledge of basic routing and switching
- Static IPv4 and IPv6 routing
- Understanding, deploying, and managing Wi-Fi networks
- Familiarity with firewalls and VPN
- Experience managing DNS or DHCP
- Knowledge of Ethernet, spanning tree, LACP, ARP
- Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF)
- Experience with Cisco IOS & Juniper Junos
Desired qualifications:
- BGP and OSPF
- Infoblox for IP Address Management (IPAM), DNS, and DHCP
- Solarwinds Orion for network monitoring
- Pulse Secure VPN
- Cisco and or Juniper Certification(s)
- Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama
- ForeScout CounterAct or other Network Access Control (NAC) technologies
- Junos and experience with Juniper EX switches
