Associate Motion Capture Technical Director
Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid in-office/telecommute position)
This is a long-term contracted position through our staffing partner DZConneX with possibility of extension.
As the Associate Motion Capture TD on PlayStation Studio’s Visual Arts Motion Capture team, you will be asked to write tools and scripts to help automate and streamline Mocap data processing and publishing. This position works out of our Los Angeles Motion Capture studio and will work with a team of San Diego based engineers to develop and maintain production asset management/tracking tools, and tools for Motion Capture. This role will be involved in the development of new technologies that make Mocap production more efficient and scalable.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Mocap and Engineering teams to design and implement in-house tools and infrastructure as related to Mocap.
- To create and maintain key systems and technologies for the Motion Capture department.
- Help to build and guide the direction of a new facility asset management system and its user interfaces as related to the Motion Capture pipeline.
- Identify possible issues in Mocap pipeline and provide practical alternatives/solutions.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience developing tools to support animation or game content creation or facility infrastructure. Having both knowledgebases is preferable.
- Experience with at least one major 3D animation application API; preferably Python in Maya or Motion Builder.
- Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Highly motivated, with a strong work ethic.
- Have a service-oriented attitude and knack for developing efficient and elegant solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Have a passion for technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with motion capture pipelines.
- Experience working with game engines such as Unreal or Unity.
- Experience working in a commercial software development environment a major plus.
- Perforce knowledge.
- GIT knowledge and more specifically git-flow.
- Game production knowledge.
