We are looking for an Associate Game Designer to bring their game design passion to Jam City’s Burbank studio! You’ll have the opportunity to work on a variety of games, including the #1 mobile hit Disney Emoji Blitz. This is a perfect opportunity for a new designer looking to gather a wide variety of skills and experience at a world class studio. The ideal candidate is a jack of all trades, excited to learn and support any and all aspects of the design team’s needs. You will be involved in a wide variety of game tasks, including but not limited to content implementation, Event design and tuning, play testing and balancing new mechanics, design brainstorms, and writing Game Design Specs.
**Qualified applicants will be expected to complete a Game Design test.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support design needs handled by development teams, both internal and external.
- Write design specs for new mechanics and features.
- Help organize and playtest new events, mechanics, and features.
- Provide actionable feedback, balancing notes, and recommendations.
- Participate in brainstorms for new mechanics and features.
- Create prize, event, and other data configurations as directed.
- Collaborate with both Design and Product Managers to properly balance features.
- Maintain knowledge of the mobile game industry, competitors, trends and recent hits.
- Implement content using proprietary tools and Unity.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 1 year in a Game Designer position on a mobile game OR a degree in Game Design from an accredited Game Design program.
- Experience writing functional design specs writing and communicating your designs and vision to colleagues across different disciplines.
- Well versed in game design theory, and knowledgeable on features and designs used in other top mobile games.
- Ability to take direction.
- Strong team player w/ good people skills.
- Experience with Unity.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Excitement to work on live hit mobile games!
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience working with IP characters and following IP guidelines.
- Experience with live operations process, timelines, content, and planning.
- Experience working with Product Managers and looking at live data.
- Agile and Scrum process experience.
- Serious passion for games—you are a gamer, and have been for years.
- Inspired to support a creative, collaborative design culture.
- Takes accountability and ownership of projects from start to finish.
- Problem solver, results oriented, self-motivated and disciplined.
- Able to multi-task like a pro.
- Ability to take direction and collaborate.
- Coding/Prototyping experience is a plus!
