Job Description:
Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an Associate Director, Strategy and Business Operations for the Battle.net & Online Products team. Battle.net is our platform that unlocks the greatness of gaming together for millions of players globally.
In this role, we are looking for a team member who thrives in being a key strategic partner with key team members in the Battle.net organization to provide strategic product, finance, and commercial resource support to Battle.net leadership across functions.
The Associate Director is responsible for driving key finance processes within the Battle.net organization including, but not limited to financial forecasting, budgeting, and multi-year strategic plans, and providing key strategic financial consultations to the Head of Battle.net as well as the Commercial Leader of Battle.net. In addition, this position helps to drive quarter-end business reviews, manage operational risk management processes, and partner with key business leaders to optimize and support the business expansion.
This role will lead and implement planning processes and support initiatives for the Battle.net organization and will require the candidate to build partnerships with key team members (engineers, product managers, etc.) in order to plan, deliver, and report consolidated results to Finance and executive management.
The ideal candidate is an independent, self-motivated leader with a proven record of accomplishment proactively identifying process efficiencies, anticipating business needs, and implementing solutions across the organization. This role reports to the Sr. Director, Operations of Battle.net & Online Products group.
Covid-19 Hiring Update: We are currently in a work-from-home model and continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role may begin as a remote position but will transition to at least a partial in-office position based out of Irvine, CA. We understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore possible interim options.
Responsibilities
- Lead development of Annual Operating Plan and long-range plans, based on long-range expected content releases and platform enhancements in conjunction with historical platform performance
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc financial forecasting for Battle.net, establishing and communicating process results, and driving global execution.
- Drive strategic analysis and product planning for the Battle.net platform in partnership with Battle.net technical, corporate commercial, and corporate finance teams
- Coordinate PC game and franchise forecasting with the franchise commercial and finance teams
- Track, report and analyze ad-hoc, weekly and monthly financial performance for the Battle.net platform on a product and regional basis to help commercial leadership identify risks and opportunities
- Develop financial and strategic analysis to provide clarity on various commercial opportunities, including platform-led franchise-wide promotions, regional and global monetization options, new content acquisition, etc.
- Direct data-led financial modeling of key strategic initiatives to impact commercial critical metrics of reach, engagement, and monetization
- Proactively identify and implement process efficiencies to improve productivity and quality of forecasts
- Partner with team members in the Battle.net Operations, Commercial and Finance community to identify key performance indicators, technology spend, developing and adapting as necessary
- Improve performance by driving efficiencies of investment and understanding value in capital spending and new projects
- Nurture a Healthy Development Environment. Use work systems that support effective, balanced, sustainable work while improving project predictability, individual and team agency, and product innovation. Champion efforts, activities and projects that build trust and collaboration within the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or relevant field of study, with substantial relevant professional experience in strategy consulting or technology operations
- Passion for technology, or background in software development industry
- Strong communications and presentation skills, with the ability to work with other members operations teams across the organization to distill complex topics into concrete insights and strategic plans
- Previous experience as manager partnering with senior business leaders in a technology-focused department
- Strong interpersonal skills and a love for collaboration
- Previous experience in leading annual budget processes, quarterly forecasts, and long-range plans with strong financial analysis and organizational skills
- Extensive experience modeling technical financial scenarios in Excel and outputting complex concepts into executive materials Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to roll up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity across multiple project types
- Passion for playing computer / video games
