Role Summary
A technical test professional who leverages intermediate knowledge of hardware and understanding of the fundamental test process to execute automated and manual testing tasks that are provided to them. Utilizes defined test strategies or adapts them to new small-scale projects that they take ownership of. Responsible for identifying and communicating defects, risks, and feedback as they are identified, while providing ideas as to possible solutions.
General Job Description – Responsibilities
- Work closely with developers as features are delivered to ensure requirements are both verified and validated
- Execute provided automated and manual testing tasks with an emphasis on test execution, test library maintenance, and test closure activities
- Execute interoperability, performance, and network emulation test sweeps across multiple platforms and report results
- Run and maintain automated testing scripts with the goal of increasing test coverage through automation
- Support the test design effort through the creation and modification of test cases and work estimations
- Independently identify and troubleshoot hardware and software defects
- Build and maintain computer systems, servers, and virtual machines
- Use KPIs to validate and report against software quality SLAs
- Ensure team standards are met within project management (i.e. JIRA) and test related tools (i.e. TestRail)
- Be a creative thinker who can test for ‘edge cases’ outside of expected functionality
- Handle other duties as assigned
General Job Description – Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline; or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum of 1 - 2 years’ experience in software or hardware testing
- ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) or equivalent
- Familiar with at least one programming language such as Python
- Foundational knowledge of computer processors, memory, graphics, network technologies, and virtual machines
- Proficient in installing and maintaining all supported Windows and macOS operating systems
- Experience testing on multiple platforms including, Windows, macOS, console, and mobile
- Working understanding of software development and debugging tools
- Ability to analyze and interpret data/workflows, recognize critical issues, and raise concerns
- Understanding of various Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including accurate and timely reporting
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Flexible and team-oriented, with good interpersonal and follow-up skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Passion for games, commitment to quality, and continuous improvement
General Job Description – Pluses
- Gray-box and white-box testing experience
- CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent
- ISTQB Certified Tester Advanced Level (CTAL) or equivalent
