Associate Art Director

The Associate Art Director is responsible for acting as the motivational catalyst for the art team. Working under the Art Director, you will be their key partner in project execution. You will help to define aesthetic look and drive artistic quality. In addition to channeling the visual direction to the art team, you will act as one of the key communication conduits for design, engineering, and production.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Art Director and Art Leads to ensure consistency of quality and vision for the art
- Facilitate the creation of concept paintings and other benchmark assets that set the bar and inspire others
- Creatively solve visual problems in collaboration with the broader game team including other Directors, Art Leads, and Artists
- Take creative ownership over projects from concept to completion
- Present ideas and concepts to Directors and stakeholders and incorporate feedback when needed
- Partner with the production team to ensure schedules and plans meet project and business needs
- Help in mentoring and engaging artists to ensure the art team is healthy and growing artistically
- Provide written and verbal feedback to artists that are internal and external
- Requirements:
- 10+ year of experience in the game industry working on AAA games
- You have proven yourself in a leadership capacity as a Lead Artist, Supervisor, or Art Director on at least one shipped AAA game
- Specialization and mastery in at least one area of video game art creation (environment, character, animation, FX, concept art/visual development, etc.)
- Takes initiative to solve problems with excellent follow through
- Experience working with an Art Director to develop a unique and cohesive visual style
- Works closely with game design to ensure art enhances the player experience
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Experience managing and mentoring internal and external artists
- Excellent time management skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and genuinely enjoys working on a team
- A real passion for games
- Pluses:
- Experience working with UE4 or equivalent game engines
- Previous FPS military shooter experience
- Experience working with outsourcing pipelines and teams
- Submission/Portfolio Requirements:
- Portfolio demonstrating relevant artistic skills required
