The Assistant Legal Counsel will join the UK-based Legal team, working closely with our territory offices, commercial, marketing and community teams, and supporting other company activities across new markets in a diverse and wide-ranging role. The applicant must be someone with broad legal experience and ideally a background working in the media or entertainment industries. The role would be suitable for a gaming enthusiast with a can-do attitude, and the ability and flexibility to work in a multi-national organisation with people from different cultural and professional backgrounds, and who can help bring Bethesda titles to wider audiences.
Responsibilities
The UK Legal team support the company on a wide range of legal, regulatory and commercial matters, to which the Assistant Legal Counsel is expected to contribute. Some examples are:
- Working with the Community teams on social media initiatives, events, contests and influencer engagement
- Supporting the Brand and Marketing teams on paid media activities, and providing strategic, hands on legal advice in respect of online marketing and advertising arrangements
- Supporting the wider legal team on privacy and data protection compliance matters
- Leading legal services to the PR teams with their digital and physical tradeshows and other events
- Assisting on corporate matters relating to the company’s London, Paris, Frankfurt, Sydney, Moscow and Eindhoven offices and emerging markets
- General assistance with other areas of the business activities
Qualifications
- University degree and legal qualifications in the UK or EU
- Minimum of two years post-qualification experience
- Solid background in commercial law, with additional experience in some or all of the following areas:
- Copyright and Trademark law
- Data Protection, Privacy and Consumer Rights
- Competition law
- Licensing and Distribution
- Ecommerce
- Litigation
- Experience working in the technology, media and entertainment industries
- A working understanding of the video games industry and the current legal and regulatory developments affecting it
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage and appropriately prioritise a busy workload
- Native or near-native fluency in written and spoken English
