The studio is currently co-developing Halo Infinite, working on projects in the Minecraft universe, supporting the dev team at Bungie on Destiny 2: Lightfall, supporting development of Fallout 76, and working on original IP. SkyBox Labs is looking for a skilled and experienced Art Production Manager who will help grow our art teams on original IP and across the studio! You will play an instrumental role in the growth and development of our artists, providing career management and ongoing mentorship while leveraging your strong artistic, technical, and project management skills to ensure the timely delivery of a range of high quality art assets. This is an exciting opportunity to leave your mark on an exciting new original project while making a lasting impact across the entire studio.
A snapshot of your role:
- Coordinate the production of 3D art assets (including concept, character, environment, and animation assets)
- Review incoming art assets and provide clear and consistent feedback, ensuring high quality and alignment with project goals and artistic vision
- Work with art, production and technical leads to develop and maintain production schedules
- Anticipate and identify potential risks associated with meeting project deadlines, ensuring the appropriate steps are taken to resolve issues that may hinder progress or compromise project objectives
- Evaluate and provide recommendations to improve processes, tools and workflows
- Provide career management to the art team through regular 1-on-1s, ongoing mentorship and feedback, and performance reviews
- Create and manage schedules and establish proper workflows among the art team
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to help review, interview and hire candidates for art teams across the studio
- Build and maintain trusting and collaborative relationships with our co-development partners, third party vendors, and key internal and external stakeholders
Who are you, and what experience will you bring?
- 8+ years' experience in the games industry with a solid background in 3D art
- 3+ years' experience leading teams of artists, with a strong interest in mentorship and career development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, influence and motivate others
- Proven ability to provide sound artistic, technical and development feedback on a range of art assets
- Deep understanding of the art creation process and art pipelines
- Strong organizational, prioritization, multitasking and time estimation skills
- Proficient at developing schedules for production, outsourcing and staffing needs
- Proactive with the ability to anticipate potential production hurdles and identify appropriate solutions
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve and exercise sound judgment
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience working on AAA PC/console games is preferred
- Art outsourcing experience is a huge asset
- Experience working with external development partners
