Art Out-Source Partner

The opportunity

Unity's Content team of Photogrammetry and Photometry Artists is growing to produce ever-more high fidelity real-time 3d assets. We are seeking an outsource manager who can aid us in projects ranging from Virtual Production to games and anything in-between.

Long term, we will work to develop and employ efficient working practices ensuring that all externally authored art content meets the high visual quality bar established by the project art direction. Additionally, you will continually look for the most efficient ways to empower the artists on your team, as well as our external partners, to deliver large volumes of content within our tight production schedule constraints, while also maintaining the artistic style and vision of our projects are known for.

What you'll be doing

• Being the conduit to external developers and outsourcing teams to boost our teams' bandwidth, bring flexibility and specialist abilities
• Work with partners in the content team to establish the aesthetic and technical briefs for vendors and ensure these standards are met
• Establish and own the outsourcing processes. You’ll work with the Director of Content to identify and engage outsourced artists and agencies. You’ll be on the hook for learning the internal systems for vendor onboarding, legal review, cost negotiation & procurement, and navigating through this with expertise
• Asset management: make sure assets are saved, uploaded, tested, named and tagged accurately
• Own the art asset review process with vendors, ensuring feedback is clearly communicated and understood and relayed in a reliable and timely fashion

What we're looking for

• A creative approach, with forward-looking and agile problem-solving skills. You can look at any problem with a fresh eye and propose innovative solutions
• Someone with strong communication, and an ability to work with colleagues both up and down the management chain
• Prowess in scheduling and presenting timelines both visually and via email and conversation
• Proven experience in building and maintaining scalable outsourcing pipelines, identifying risks and improvements as the process expands.
• Must have experience using procurement systems including vendor onboarding as well as legal and financial processes

You might also have

• A background in art and 3d modeling, materials authoring, or animation workflows
• Experience in growing and leading teams of OS artists
• Previous experience with video-game, VFX, film, or virtual production content
