Art Lead, Mobile Games

PerBlue is looking for a talented and experienced Art Lead to join our team. We’re a quickly growing independent studio whose free-to-play midcore mobile games have been played by millions people around the world, including our award-winning Disney Heroes: Battle Mode game. We’re looking for a talented artist who can create high quality concept art and storyboards to join our Creative Team.

Responsibilities
In this product centric role, you’ll work closely with product leads and our Art Director to bring new games to life. You’ll do everything from creating and refining the look and feel of our characters to creating storyboards and game flow on which our teams can execute. Your strengths in strong visual development skills and design direction will drive the look and feel of the characters and settings for our mobile games.
You’ll be deeply involved throughout the production process and play a key role in helping shape the visual style of our games. This is a highly collaborative role that works closely with our Chief Product Officer, Art Director, Executive Producers, Developers, and Game Designers.
Our ideal candidate will have significant professional experience creating finished 2D concept art for shipped, financially successful games. You should have a refined portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating the visual style for video games generally, with a focus on mobile strategy/RPG games highly desired. We look for passionate ownership of the visual creation of video game characters, and an orientation toward teamwork.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years professional video game studio experience as a concept artist, 2D artist, or lead artist
- Strong visual development and visual design skills
- Ability to lead a cross-functional team of internal and external artists
- Strong artistic background, training, and sensibilities
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal)
- Passion and vision for creating video game characters, stories, and product style
- A polished portfolio showcasing shipped characters and games
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while being able to maintain a high quality bar
- Ability to work in a variety of art styles
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite software
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with the constraints and opportunities in character-driven mobile RPG/strategy games
- Experience working with external art vendors, specifically paintover experience
- Experience with game design
- Experience with Unity
