Art Director, Games

Carry1st is the leading publisher of social games and interactive content in Africa. We work with studios across the globe - from Addis Ababa to Sofia to New York City - to level up their games and scale in dynamic, frontier markets. In addition to our full-stack publishing service, we’ve built a proprietary payments and ecommerce experience which allows customers to pay for digital content, even when they don’t have a credit card.
As Art Director you’ll be responsible for defining and directing artistic vision for games in pre-production and production stage. You’ll work in close collaboration with our awesome Games team, including Product Managers, Producers , Game Designer and Dev teams to define and create new game concepts, and oversee the art production pipeline during the development of the game.
You will…
- Participate in brain-storming, conception of ideas, and brief creation
- Define and showcase the visual identity of the game in the pre-production phase
- Create the art style-guide for in-game assets and UI
- Set up the best practices and standards for production based on industry benchmarks and share your expertise with the team members
- Oversee art hiring, development and resourcing
- Review and validate the assets
- Oversee the whole game graphic quality and art content production in collaboration with the production team
Requirements
What makes you a great candidate?
- Demonstrable leadership skills with both problem solving and diplomatic skills.
- Portfolio of work that demonstrates compelling visuals across multiple genres of games.
- Previous experience working with external partners.
- Excellent technical ability with a thorough understanding of Unity, mobile rendering and post processing methods.
- Previous experience as an Art Director with 5 or more years working in game development, including at least one mobile game; .
