We are currently looking for an Art Director with a minimum of 10 years in the game industry and 5-7 years in a game art leadership role in freemium mobile, to lead our art team’s work on our top grossing game, Bingo Story, as well as future projects.
What You Will Do?
- Work with the creative and production teams to define and communicate the vision of our games
- Jump in and create 3D game art from characters to environments and objects when needed
- Collaborate with lead artists to develop the artistic tone (set the ambiance; explore locations, key moments, emotional contrasts, characters, etc.)
- Create the visual style guide of a game (put together mood boards, references, and descriptions)
- Coordinate and oversee the art team throughout production to maintain the big picture vision
- Coach and mentor other artists to evolve their vision and skillset
- Find balance between artistic aspects and technical constraints
- Provide leadership and constructive feedback to achieve quality
- Collaborate with members of cross functional teams in all stages of development
- Participate in recruitment to build the artistic team & foster their growth
What You Will Offer?
- A college diploma in Fine Arts or equivalent (undergraduate degree an asset)
- 5+ years of leadership experience in the game industry
- A well developed understanding of Unity art pipelines
- Must have shipped a minimum of 1-2 mobile games in a leadership art role
- Knowledge of Photoshop and 3D software (e.g. 3DS Max, Blender, Maya)
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, communication, interpersonal, presentation, and mentorship skills
- A track record managing, mentoring and coaching other artists
- Ability to give actionable artistic feedback Deep understanding of art production for games and the project management aspect of the production processExperience in creating art style guides for known published games
- Senior experience as a lead game artist on several released titles from at least one well known studio
Nice Tor Have
- Understanding of 3D rigging and animation, particle effects, shaders, textures a definite plus
- Sourcing, vetting and hiring art outsource partnersCreating and delivering pitches
- Understanding of typography and game UI
- Technical art pipeline know how to get the most out of an engine
- Familiarity with the casual mobile game landscape, even better if you play mobile games
