Job Description
As an Application Engineer in our Core Applications team, you will be working with several web technologies, integration frameworks and 3rd party tools. We are looking for someone with a diverse set of skills which they can apply towards creating solutions for a wide variety of problems .
Design, build and implement enterprise-class technical solutions involving application components (storage, computing, networking, security) for both on-premise and cloud environments. Align standards, frameworks and security solutions with the overall business and technology strategy. Identify and communicate current and emerging security threats to the technology and security organizations within Magic Leap. Design, document, complete POCs and disseminate Infrastructure solutions to address business needs while minimizing security threats as they emerge with a mindset of maintaining key business processes and operational readiness. Identify Infrastructure based solutions within a hybrid environment that balance business requirements with information, cloud and on-prem infrastructure within a cybersecurity mindful environment and best practices compliance approach.
Responsibilities:
- Primary: Administering JIRA/Confluence Software across a diverse user base with multiple instances/locations.
- Secondary: configure, maintain, tune, upgrade, and improve Core Application products and processes.
- Work with internal groups to design custom JIRA projects, workflows, and implementations.
- Provide training and documentation to technical and non-technical teams for Atlassian solutions.
- Compile and analyze operational and performance reporting data.
- Support and troubleshoot Atlassian tools and plugins; fixing errors common to Atlassian JIRA and Confluence applications, Linux servers, PostgreSQL database server, Microsoft SQL Server, Apache Tomcat application servers.
- Creating custom Atlassian Plugins (Java) or Atlassian Connect “Add-Ons” and other integrations as needed.
- Support deployment and maintenance of SSO integrations (Okta, and Google SSO).
- Provide administrator support and maintenance for google gSuite services and products.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of JIRA administration experience
- Experience administering Atlassian tools (JIRA and Confluence) in a large environment.
- Excellent understanding of JIRA workflows, permission schemes, notification schemes, etc.
- Very good understanding of Agile SDLC and experience working with Agile teams.
- Experience in creating and maintaining customizations and integrations within JIRA and Confluence.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2017 and CentOS Linux environments.
- Experience with APIs, tool integrations, and writing scripts (i.e., ScriptRunner, Groovy, etc.
- Experience in writing Atlassian plugins (Java) or Atlassian Connect Add Ons.
- Experience in a customer facing role with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience authoring Confluence content for technical and non-technical users.
- Understanding of performance monitoring, tuning, and test tools for JIRA and Apache Tomcat

- Atlassian JIRA Certified Administrator designation
- JAMA and JAMA Integration Hub knowledge and experience
- Experience with JIRA Enterprise, Datacenter, and other DR/HA models
- Understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery processes
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform, SaltStack, Ivanti).
- 3+ years experience with inventory management systems.
- 3+ years experience with identity access management & Single Sign-On tools such as Okta.
- Experience in an operational team.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement and scrum methodologies.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
