Animator

Forward Game Studios is expanding our team to create cutting-edge video games for next-gen consoles, PC, and VR headsets. Founded in 2016, you will be joining a veteran team of software engineers, designers, artists, and senior leadership with decades of experience who have shipped some of the bestselling titles in history including games in the DOOM, QUAKE, Wolfenstein, RAGE, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike and Left 4 Dead series.

Description
We are looking for someone that is positive, energetic, and excited about creating animations for a wide range of uses. We have a variety of projects and needs that span from virtual industrial training to original game animations, to support existing high-profile external projects. As an animation generalist, you will be working directly with various departments on the team in a highly interactive environment.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with design, engineering, art, and production
• Identify animation needs by being highly self-motivated and proactive
• Understand and estimate scope and risk to contribute to production time estimates
• Create animations of object interactions as well as character motions
• Match different animation styles both realistic and exaggerated
• Work with, add to, manipulate and implement existing animation assets
• Evaluate the quality of animations by regularly checking in context to the project
  

Requirements

• 3 plus years experience working with a team to produce quality real-time, video game animation assets
• At least one shipped product
• Familiar with commercial and proprietary game engines
• Experience with specialized software like Maya, 3DsMax, etc
• Collaborative, creative, and comfortable with experimental and iterative work
• Knowledge and demonstration of classic animations principles of weight, timing, and acting
• Rigging experience

• 3D modeling for block out and pre-production animation
• Character modeling
• Technical skills: scripting, complex rigging, motion capture, VFX
• Able to contribute to the setup and maintenance of animation pipelines
