Animation Programmer Intern

Epic Games Unreal Engine team is looking for an Animation Programmer Intern to join them for the fall 2019 semester in Cary, North Carolina! This team is responsible for enhancing and maintaining core systems of Unreal Engine 4, as well as optimize them for multiple platforms. You will work directly with the brightest technical minds in the business as we build the premier game engine for a multitude of platforms. As an intern, you are provided with a meaningful experience with high expectations for performance. If you want to build something Epic, this is the opportunity for you!
Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the Engine team to support animation needs across Epic Games
- Animation feature development
- Working on optimizations in game
- General bug fixing for Fortnite and Unreal Engine
- Supporting Epic product releases
- Developing solutions to various technical challenges under deadlines
Qualifications:
- Degree work in CS or related field: active students and recent grads are encouraged to apply
- Strong C++ knowledge
- Excellent math skills, especially matrix math and techniques for solving systems of linear equations
- Experience with animation state machines, low level animation systems, and/or physics-based IK systems
- Experience with multiple core system tasks such as graphics, tools, audio/video, networking, memory handling, script compilers, I/O, etc.
- UE4 Gameplay experience is preferred: basics of networking, character movement, and blueprints
This is a paid internship, running September 3 through December 13. All candidates must be eligible to work 40 hours per week on site in Cary, NC
